MISO works with its neighboring transmission planning regions to develop mutually agreeable methods for allocating the costs of transmission facilities that benefit more than one region. MISO coordinates with Southwest Power Pool, PJM Interconnection and the Southeastern Regional Transmission Planning Region. MISO and its seams partners meet multiple times each year to exchange information.
PJM neighbors MISO to the northeast and is the regional transmission organization and independent system operator for members in Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Southwest Power Pool neighbors MISO to the southwest. SPP is the regional transmission operator and independent system operator for members in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

The Southeastern Regional Transmission Planning organization neighbors MISO to both the southeast and west. SERTP has members who operate in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee.

MISO and the SERTP coordinate annually to review each region's respective regional transmission plans. Stakeholders who wish to propose a MISO-SERTP interregional transmission project may do so through the MISO regional transmission planning process.
